When I heard that he was going to be in Chester, VA this morning, I HAD to see if I could get a chance to see him. Obama was attending a town hall meeting with Gov. Tim Kaine at the local community college this morning.

The kids and I left the house… did a bit of shopping… had lunch at Panera… and then (as the motorcade had not made an appearance in the route 10/ jeff davis highway area) drove 2 minutes down the road to John Tyler CC. There were a fair number of Obama folks hanging around to see him leave (the event was by invite only) so I decided to join them.

There were also a few McCain supporters there with signs such as “honk if you love McCain” and “prochoice, progun, proamerica”…. that one was held by a lady who a couple of folks got to go off on a rant on “partial birth abortion”. Probably the BEST fun was had when a red pickup drove by honking madly with an Obama sign in the passenger window.

Well as you can see by the pic above I SORT OF got to see him… he waved from the window of his bus as he drove out of the campus. The kids were NOT thrilled… it was hot there was LITTLE shade, and nothing to do.

To top everything off Mary and I lost track of Andrew on the way back to the van… we had parked in the CVS lot which is next to campus… I gave her Catherine and the keys and told her to take her to the van while I went to look for Andrew. Chuck was on his way over (i was on the phone with him when I discovered Andrew was missing) he called me when he arrived and found Andrew waiting at the van.
